The crowd turning up at the stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+6) (26) ability to attack in the middle today. Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but Shekar Kannan couldn't finish. Shekar Kannan made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle with 11 minutes played. Moey Xin Seng went to the air and hit the ball firmly with his forehead for Grilled. 0 - 1. Nông Hào got a fingertip on Moey Xin Seng's shot from the left 33 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The Schönbornring free kick 34 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - Youssef Berraja seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 1 - 1! Vikram Mudaliar let loose a good shot after 38 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. Grilled took the lead 40 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Shekar Kannan was the scorer. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!

The game had been going for 54 minutes when Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3 for Grilled, much to the home crowd's dismay. Vlad Ştefănescu was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but Hans-Bernhard Reitmayr seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. In minute 66, the home team was awarded a penalty. Forcefully yelling out 70 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Schönbornring substitution. Dillon Peterson came on for Marek Nestmeier. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Salah Kamel gave Heng Dong Chu a quick hug as he left the field. After 76 minutes Vikram Mudaliar made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to Shekar Kannan who blasted it past the keeper. The score was now 2 - 4. Grilled's Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 78 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 2 - 5. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni was shown a yellow card after 79 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Chu Xin Lee off. Teo Chuan Yong took his place. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Douglas Carapaica reluctantly made way for Gilbert Webb. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. 90 minutes into the match, Gilbert Webb came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The match ends 2 - 5. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Schönbornring's top performer was clearly Nông Hào. I can't remember Reiner Sendler ever having a worse night than he just had. Most important Grilled player was Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place, Bhavya Panigrahi sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
