It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+6) (26) ability to great effect. Vistula took the lead 11 minutes in, as
Samuel Loury broke through on the left and put his shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper, bringing the score to 1 - 0. Grilled leveled the score after 21 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud struck home after a fine midfield combination through the middle left him completely unmarked. After 25 minutes, Vistula raised their score by one when
Angel Andreev's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
Samuel Loury. 2 - 1. If the home side can close out the game with their lead intact, they'll have
Randolfo Bañuelos to thank, after he made a stunning leap to deny
Chu Xin Lee from scoring the equalizer after a run through the center 26 minutes in. Grilled got a chance to level the scores in minute 28 as
Kalki Parvathaneni suddenly found himself free with only the keeper to beat, but the finish hit the bar. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 54 percent possession of the ball.
With 54 minutes played, the visitors could have scored the tying goal after
Moey Xin Seng came through the middle, but his kick went wide. Vistula's
Angel Andreev saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 61 minutes in. Vistula put themselves up 3 - 1 when
Samuel Loury broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. At that,
Samuel Loury was noted down for a hattrick! 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Salah Kamel gave
Heng Dong Chu a quick hug as he left the field. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled's attack got through on the right, but
Vikram Mudaliar couldn't control the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. With 77 minutes gone, Vistula's organization began to suffer due to a lack of experience. Coming in on the left,
Chu Xin Lee did everything right to get a goal for Grilled after 78 minutes, but his curling shot was punched clear by the keeper. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Chu Xin Lee off.
Teo Chuan Yong took his place. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Gilbert Webb came on for
Douglas Carapaica. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 1. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 54 percent of possession.
Vistula's top performer was clearly
Samuel Loury. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Florin Duşu today. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Bhavya Panigrahi isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
