Grilled 5 - 7 Manchester

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 84619 that came out to The Cooking Pot. Gerhard Dacremont was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Leonard Camaggi and Miloš Ćorović. It was a sunny day and the Technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players took the field for Grilled: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Lunde - Kannan, Xin Lee, Kamel, Xin Seng, Parvathaneni - Mudaliar, Mazhud, Ze Han.

The following players had been chosen by Manchester: Tovtuk - Cruzul, Powell - Chin Chi, Marguet, Skrt, Pogliaghi, Abdul Rahman - Fiore, Solheim, Haugaard.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+6) (26) level with that tactic. Manchester clearly preferred using their divine (+4) (24) ability to attack in the middle. Manchester made it 0 - 1 as Marcelino Fiore got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to Ejler Haugaard who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Mirko Pogliaghi increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. A drive down the left side allowed Mirko Pogliaghi to get in close and score another goal for Manchester after 15 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. Manchester players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Fredrik Solheim received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 24 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Manchester fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni cut towards the middle after 25 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 4. A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper Izydor Tovtuk and his left defence could have resulted in a goal for Grilled, but Kalki Parvathaneni's finish was way too lame. It was obvious that team Manchester had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 41 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Marcelino Fiore who increased Manchester's lead to 1 - 5. 1 - 5 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Manchester, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

The corner kick from Bhavya Panigrahi was powerfully met by the head of Salah Kamel to make the score 2 - 5. It took several tries, but Grilled managed to break through on the left after 59 minutes, getting the ball to Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud who easily reduced the lead to make the score 3 - 5. After 67 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Fredrik Solheim a chance to increase the lead for Manchester, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 3 - 6. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Sølve Lunde reluctantly made way for Douglas Carapaica on the pitch. Kalki Parvathaneni would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Heng Dong Chu entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 70 minutes. Grilled's Chu Xin Lee found himself alone on the left side 87 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! 88 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chu Xin Lee gave Teo Chuan Yong a quick hug as he left the field. Darrell Powell was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 88 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged. Radim Chvátal had already been warming up, and came on for Darrell Powell. The head of Aleixo Cruzul connected with a corner kick after 88 minutes, and the ball ended up with Pierre-Étienne Marguet of Manchester who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 3 - 7. The home team's supporters got excited again when Moey Xin Seng broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 4 - 7. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Grilled refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, Moey Xin Seng managed to slip the ball home for 5 - 7. The match ends 5 - 7. Manchester claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Chan Ze Han. Shekar Kannan turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Manchester player was Ejler Haugaard. Radim Chvátal was a disappointment, however.
