With the clock showing 30 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Haha resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Aw Tian Jin in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. A well placed corner kick from Bhavya Panigrahi was followed by Moey Xin Seng's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Grilled, the score now 2 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Grilled had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let Teo Chuan Yong replace Heng Dong Chu after 46 minutes. The Haha coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy.
