Football 2 - 1 Grilled

Dark skies made the crowd of 59259 at Blue Planetarium a little nervous, but the rain held off. Bor Kurtušič was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Charles Eude and Michel Daniel Landzaat. All of Jurong was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. The following players took the field for Football: Koenigsegg - Licciardello, Jakobsen, Noguera, Brettoni, Fiks - Forestier, Vrubelevsky, Linskens, Gulyás, Algüzar -.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Carapaica - Kannan, Xin Lee, Lunde, Xin Seng, Parvathaneni - Mudaliar, Mazhud, Ze Han.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-5-0 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Going for long shots seemed to be the pick of the day for Football, taking advantage of their divine (+2) (22) level with that tactic. Grilled used their divine (+5) (25) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Down the middle came Kalki Parvathaneni, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 33 minutes, but Dennis Koenigsegg preserved the tie. Football succeeded with their tactics after 40 minutes faking a cross into the penalty area, but instead passing a short side pass back to Artur Forestier who met the ball directly with his outstretched foot. The hard long shot touched the keeper's finger tips, but it wasn't enough to stop it from going in. 1 - 0. The referee showed Football's Jens Petur Jakobsen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled's Chu Xin Lee took a knock to the head after 41 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He took a few uneasy steps, but got dizzy and then taken off the field. Salah Kamel tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. 43 minutes in, Football's Pier Giuseppe Licciardello received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Ernesto Noguera was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Football's Jonas Vrubelevsky managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 2 - 0 The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

49 minutes in, Shekar Kannan made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but Dennis Koenigsegg refused to let the ball slip by him. With 50 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Football resulted in a counterattack that set Jonas Vrubelevsky free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Grilled's Salah Kamel got himself booked for a foul. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, Dennis Koenigsegg limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, managing only 56 minutes for his team this day. The player that took his place was Jan Paradysz. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. With 58 minutes played, Salah Kamel had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle flew harmlessly wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Heng Dong Chu came on for Kalki Parvathaneni. Sølve Lunde would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Teo Chuan Yong entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 60 minutes. After 70 minutes Football showed some great patience outside the penalty area, waiting until Pier Giuseppe Licciardello could find the right opportunity to finish off the attack from distance. The long shot, however, was an easy catch for Jānis Salmiņš. 72 minutes into the match, the speedy Vikram Mudaliar easily outpaced Bonifacy Fiks, chipped the keeper and made the score 2 - 1. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 74 minutes, Chan Ze Han broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. Jan Paradysz made a great block, though. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Coming through the middle Vikram Mudaliar almost scored the equaliser for Grilled after 89 minutes, but Jan Paradysz made an excellent save, tipping the awkward curled shot past the post. The match ends 2 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Football's top performer was clearly Darius Linskens. However, Ernesto Noguera made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Vikram Mudaliar. Shekar Kannan was a disappointment, however.
