The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Bayer 04 Toliara, went for a 3-5-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+5) (25) ability to attack in the middle today. The visitors grabbed the lead after
Bhavya Panigrahi's successful free kick, resulting in a score of 0 - 1. Toliara's
Moritz Hebelich placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but
Denis Rakotoniaina couldn't finish. 32 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
Moey Xin Seng hit the ball perfectly after 33 minutes to score for Grilled with a tremendous long shot! From way downtown.....BANG! 0 - 2. Toliara's
Moritz Hebelich was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 34 minutes. 35 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as
Chan Ze Han finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. The referee showed Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Man, what a shot by Grilled's
Chan Ze Han! Firing from 35 yards, he didn't give the opposing keeper a chance and it was 0 - 4. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 58 percent possession of the ball.
Grilled already had the lead, so
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud probably won't be too disappointed that his speculative shot from the right 56 minutes in fell wide of the goal. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as
Chan Ze Han put one through the keeper's legs. 0 - 5 after 60 minutes. He's already scored two, and with the third,
Chan Ze Han has a hattrick! 68 minutes into the match, the Speedy Gonzalez-like
Vikram Mudaliar easily outran
Moritz Hebelich to knock in the 0 - 6 goal. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Kalki Parvathaneni gave
Heng Dong Chu a quick hug as he left the field. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Toliara manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Innocent Déblé reluctantly made way for
Alexander Kleiner. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Grilled's
Shekar Kannan received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 71 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 7. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! With 79 minutes played, Toliara's
Wojciech Ciechacki received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Sølve Lunde came on for
Douglas Carapaica. The game was close to savage at times, and Toliara's
Moritz Hebelich received a second yellow card after 83 minutes; his ticket to the dressing rooms. With the clock showing 88 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Teo Chuan Yong looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Radovan Jaška, though he would have liked to continue. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 0 - 7. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 57 percent of possession.
Marius Dobrescu performed admirably for Toliara. I can't remember
Sinan Sevilen ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Radovan Jaška isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
