Kungfu 0 - 6 Grilled

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 69854 that came out to Tarpots Rec.. Janne Valtonen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ernest Kijiko and Hilario Urretxo. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players took the field for Kungfu: Li Beng - Wang, Chang Jing, Chee Rong - Naravatte, Duncan, Yeng Eng, Aik Hao, Wing - Pojan, Jin Keng.

Grilled's starters: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Webb - Parvathaneni, Chuan Yong, Mohammad Harun, Ze Han, Dong Chu - Mazhud, Mudaliar, Xin Lee.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Kungfu, taking advantage of their formidable (9) level with that tactic. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+6) (26) level with that tactic. 1 minutes into the game, Kungfu wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Png Li Beng gave Didi Milliard a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled took the lead 26 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. Vikram Mudaliar was the scorer. As the 35 minute mark approached, the Kungfu coach decided it was time for a substitution. Mahesh Naravatte reluctantly made way for Tan Wai Tian on the pitch. The visitors' Kalki Parvathaneni took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 35 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Chan Ze Han received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 37 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After 40 minutes of game time, Bhavya Panigrahi had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Didi Milliard was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. It was a fine day for Kalki Parvathaneni on his wing, his cross pass to Bilal Mohammad Harun was especially delicate 43 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The home crowd cheered when, after 44 minutes, Vikram Mudaliar's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. After 44 minutes, Didi Milliard was massaging his right knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

The home keeper was stunned 50 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by Bhavya Panigrahi and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 4. Fung Aik Hao would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Augustus Chan entered the game for Kungfu as the match clock showed 53 minutes. After 65 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Vikram Mudaliar a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by Moey Xin Seng. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. 76 minutes into the match, Moey Xin Seng came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Chan Ze Han hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar an easy chance to knock it in for 0 - 6. That made three goals for Vikram Mudaliar and he was marked down for the hat trick. Heng Dong Chu left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 89 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Atang Mangoye was the replacement. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 6. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

The most dominating Kungfu player was without a doubt Ciprian Pojan. Tan Wai Tian turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly Chu Xin Lee. Atang Mangoye was a disappointment, however.
