As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Manchester used their divine (+3) (23) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+7) (27) level with that tactic. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Sim Chin Chi from Manchester a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 23 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Manchester had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Horst Friedrich Dalen, but the Manchester player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 25 minutes,
Kalki Parvathaneni broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper.
Izydor Tovtuk made a great block, though. Manchester's
Sim Chin Chi set up a perfect opportunity for
Jahid Abdul Rahman, but the latter failed to score. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Grilled's
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud put the ball in the onion bag after 34 minutes to make it 1 - 1. Grilled's
Salah Kamel was shown a yellow card after 36 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Manchester were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Ejler Haugaard caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 38 minutes. This gave Manchester the 2 - 1 lead. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bhavya Panigrahi gave
Gilbert Webb a quick hug as he left the field. With
Bhavya Panigrahi no longer on the pitch,
Gilbert Webb became the new set pieces taker.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud tied the game at 2 - 2 after 54 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right.
Izydor Tovtuk looked great 61 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
Bilal Mohammad Harun. Manchester were very close to putting themselves one up after 62 minutes as
Ejler Haugaard got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide.
Kalki Parvathaneni would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Heng Dong Chu entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 66 minutes. After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 74 minutes that gave the visitors the 2 - 3 lead. Despite the controversy,
Gilbert Webb struck home the penalty, as cool as anything. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 75 minutes played,
Pierre-Étienne Marguet of Manchester made the score 3 - 3. After 76 minutes, Grilled were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chu Xin Lee off the field.
Atang Mangoye took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 3 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
Manchester's top performer was clearly
Marcelino Fiore. On the other hand,
Sim Chin Chi's play was disheartening.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled.
Atang Mangoye on the other hand, had a terrible day.
