Engineering 0 - 7 Grilled

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to Airline House. Anthony Buluku was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Detlef Rothlisberger and Kasper Larsson. The following players had been chosen by Engineering: De Hao - Leng Eng, Nguyen, Rong Wee - Shah, Ah Chi, Wei Huat, Kue, Amar - Yew Yun, Kwang An.

Grilled's lineup was: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Xin Seng - Chuan Yong, Carapaica, Ze Han, Lunde, Parvathaneni - Mazhud, Mudaliar, Xin Lee.

SIA Engineering Company entered the field in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. 3 minutes into the game, Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Engineering's Mohd Amirul Hadi Amar set up a perfect opportunity for Goh Wei Huat, but the latter failed to score. Grilled's goal to make the score 0 - 1 came via a questionable penalty, but Bhavya Panigrahi struck it home without a second thought. Sølve Lunde increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as Chu Xin Lee finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 40 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and Bhavya Panigrahi was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 4 rolling the ball in by the right post. 0 - 4 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 76 percent.

Grilled's Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud proved that he's been around on a football pitch before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the opposition's defensive line and elegantly scored for 0 - 5. Grilled increased their lead after 69 minutes when Moey Xin Seng broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Sølve Lunde delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 73 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. After 76 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Vikram Mudaliar a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 7. Chu Xin Lee was, after 82 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Liew De Hao made the save. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Prokop Mottl came on for Kalki Parvathaneni. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Teo Chuan Yong could have put his team up another goal 90 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. The match ends 0 - 7. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 77 percent of the ball.

Engineering's best player was Yeoh Kwang An. On the other hand, Liew De Hao's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly Chu Xin Lee. Moey Xin Seng was a disappointment, however.
