Fringeheads 6 - 3 Grilled

78334 spectators arrived at Sarcastic Fringehead Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. András Kun was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jens Terassa and Beniamin Trzos. Fringeheads's lineup was: Gomes Oliveira - Borichev, Bărbulescu, Vayeshnoi - Illes, Muntazir, Merkatz, Koppensteiner, Foppa - Andreassen, Karlsson.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Salmiņš - Carapaica, Jeftić - Dong Chu, Chuan Yong, ter Berg, Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Xin Seng.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Sarcastic Fringeheads went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Heng Dong Chu made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 22 minutes into the match. Bilal Mohammad Harun bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Grilled. 0 - 1. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 33 minutes played, Bogdan Bărbulescu of Fringeheads made the score 1 - 1. Fringeheads broke through on the left 38 minutes into the game, with Marco Foppa firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. Bilal Mohammad Harun made a run for the goal 39 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. After 40 minutes, Marco Foppa put Fringeheads ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Bilal Mohammad Harun was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 41 minutes. Salah Kamel tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Fringeheads had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

57 minutes into the game, Fringeheads wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Ivan Borichev gave Vincent Chan a quick hug as he left the field. Cheers filled the stadium as Marco Foppa broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Fringeheads. That made three goals for Marco Foppa and he was marked down for the hat trick. 66 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Hans Heinrich Merkatz broke through, making the score 5 - 1 for Fringeheads. After 70 minutes, the Fringeheads coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving David Koppensteiner off the field. Lillebror Bengtsson took his place. Fringeheads's Bashar Muntazir struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 6 - 1 after 73 minutes. Chu Xin Lee would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 75 minutes. The referee showed Grilled's Teo Chuan Yong the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Artur Rosa Gomes Oliveira went down after twisting his left ankle after 76 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. This gave Tan Aik Shi a chance to take to the field instead. Grilled managed to reduce the score to 6 - 2 as Chan Ze Han finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player Douglas Carapaica reduced the lead to make it 6 - 3 after 86 minutes, following a pass from the right. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Douglas Carapaica reluctantly made way for Gilbert Webb on the pitch. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 6 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Fringeheads, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.

Fringeheads's top performer was clearly Finn Karlsson. Tan Aik Shi turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. On the other hand, Gilbert Webb's play was disheartening.
