frunzelite 0 - 9 Grilled
35016 spectators had found their way to
Tarpots Rec., despite the heavy rain.
Robert Plowright was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Adam Mulvaney and
Nguyễn Thanh Danh. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players had been chosen by frunzelite:
De Kegel -
Tuli,
Casal -
Buttice,
Kiong Shi,
Navarra,
Weiss,
Kroezen -
Bassene,
Fu Yau,
Leng Kim.
Grilled's lineup was:
Salmiņš -
Webb,
Jeftić -
敬龙 (Jinglong),
Panigrahi,
ter Berg,
Lunde,
Dong Chu -
Egan,
Parvathaneni,
Xin Seng.
As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. frunzelite were relying on their solid (7) ability to counter-attack. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+5) (25) level with that tactic. Grilled's
Bernie Egan gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 12 minutes with a superb strike from the right. After 32 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Kalki Parvathaneni to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2.
Bernie Egan's speed was clear to see after 35 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 0 - 3. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni scored to make the score 0 - 4 after 36 minutes by shooting accurately and hard from a long distance, leaving the opponent keeper no other option than to pick the ball out of the net.
Gilbert Webb went down after twisting his left ankle after 38 minutes, and had to leave the pitch.
Prokop Mottl tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day.
Hong Fu Yau's fine footwork caused nothing but headaches for
Kalle ter Berg. The keeper wasn't fooled however, and confidently scooped up the ball. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Moey Xin Seng would have put Grilled up another goal 42 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Prokop Mottl received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 43 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 79 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Salah Kamel came on for
Kalle ter Berg.
Koh Kiong Shi would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Kee Jia Lee entered the game for frunzelite as the match clock showed 62 minutes. The visitors'
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 75 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for Grilled. With 76 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Bernie Egan of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7. With 82 minutes played,
Kalki Parvathaneni nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng was shown a yellow card after 83 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Kalki Parvathaneni of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 84 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 8. By then
Kalki Parvathaneni had scored three goals - a hat trick! Following a nasty collision in the 85, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game. The player that took his place was
Vikram Mudaliar.
Hannes Weiss caught everyone by surprise with a unexpected volley after 87 minutes.
Goh Leng Kim was perfectly placed to take advantage of the play, but unfortunately, he was as surprised as anyone and couldn't finish for frunzelite. The home crowd was not impressed when
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 87 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 9. This third goal completed a hattrick for
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong). The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 4 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 9. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 80 percent.
The most dominating frunzelite player was without a doubt
Gatsha Tuli.
Reimer De Kegel was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Vikram Mudaliar. However,
Prokop Mottl made a disastrous appearance.
