Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Manchester tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+2) (22) level with that tactic. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+7) (27) level with that tactic. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The visiting
Kalki Parvathaneni was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 12 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
Sølve Lunde increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
Vikram Mudaliar's lightning pace was too much for
Beau Gilmont who could only look on as the Grilled player blasted one home. 0 - 3. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 38 minutes, making it 0 - 4.
Kalki Parvathaneni was noted down as the scorer. The home team's supporters got excited again when
Jahid Abdul Rahman broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 1 - 4. It was 1 - 4 at the break. Manchester enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Salah Kamel off the field.
Kalle ter Berg took his place. Manchester were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Ejler Haugaard did everything he could to get one back for his Manchester, but keeper
Jānis Salmiņš denied him with a spectacular block. With 54 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Chu Xin Lee. Manchester's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 71 minutes into the match as
Clarke Singal ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 2 - 5. After 74 minutes
Horst Friedrich Dalen could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Mateja Jeftić came on for
Gilbert Webb. As
Gilbert Webb exited the field,
Kalle ter Berg volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 2 - 5. Manchester claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
Ejler Haugaard performed admirably for Manchester. However,
Viktor Saunov made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Kalki Parvathaneni's play was disheartening.
