Hegdeing Offers
It would be a disappointing recruitment process for Grilled's latest Young Player of the Season Ramesh Hegde, as a glut of hopeful youngsters saw the 17 year-old winger receive nothing more than a smattering of approaches. Two-time local Challenger Cup winners Marina Sailors seemed an obvious destination, with Cristian Tărâţă having assembled a fine coterie of peers that included Neo Leng Seng and Tan Li Lai, but Hegde would opt for Swedish Division Five champions Townsend United eventually.
Ramesh's father and agent Prakash Hegde informed that the decision had been taken after weighing all the pros and cons. "We want Ramesh to have as much attention and opportunity to make the first team as soon as possible, and that seemed more likely with Townsend. Some of their trainees should be leaving soon, which will give Ramesh space to shine."
Hegde's free transfer would coincide with the end of the line for two Wongs, unfortunately, with Hegde's Chicken Wings contemporary Wong Chun Beng ending his club search after two months of no follow-ups. The prospective forward hadn't received great reviews, but had been determined to put himself out. The same went for International's Wong Tian Yeng, who simply didn't stand out sufficiently either as a defender or a striker.
