It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-3-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Fürstenberg's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their titanic (15) ability to break on the counter whenever possible. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their divine (+7) (27) ability to attack in the middle. After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty awarded after 32 minutes. Despite the controversy,
Mateja Jeftić stayed cool and struck it nicely, giving the visitors the 0 - 1 lead.
Chan Ze Han was, after 41 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper
Emre Asalet made the save. After 42 minutes, the defensive line of Fürstenberg created a counter-attack through the middle that gave
Falk Eisenschenk a good look at goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. After 43 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Moey Xin Seng who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 2.
Emre Asalet got a fingertip on
Chan Ze Han's shot from the left 44 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Kalki Parvathaneni came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over
Emre Asalet just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. After 44 minutes, Fürstenberg surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter-attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The resulting free kick was a clever indirect combination that took the ball past the defenders, but too far wide, and the cross was cut out well by the keeper. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 79 percent possession of the ball.
An accurate cross from Grilled's
Heng Dong Chu was met with a wonderful off-balance header from
Kalle ter Berg, hitting the inside base of the post before curling up into the back of the net like a dog in front of a fire for 0 - 3. Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but
Chan Ze Han was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 50 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Chu Xin Lee came on for
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong). The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 61 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because
Chu Xin Lee had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. Maybe
Donat Zasorin should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 62 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Sølve Lunde was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 69 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. With the scoreboard showing that 71 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after
Chan Ze Han came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. 81 minutes in, Fürstenberg appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only inadequate (5). After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Kalle ter Berg off.
Salah Kamel took his place. With the clock showing 89 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Kalki Parvathaneni looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Bernie Egan, though he would have liked to continue. The fourth official announced that there would be 1 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. After 89 minutes, following yet another great corner,
Heng Dong Chu knocked the ball to
Teo Chuan Yong but it was just too high and the shot came off his shin. A thrilling play through the middle after 89 minutes gave Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 4. The match ends 0 - 4. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Fürstenberg's best player was
Jay Scutt. Good thing
Othmar Reifschneider isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. I can't remember
Chu Xin Lee ever having a worse night than he just had.
