Grilled 3 - 3 Fringeheads
The 90548 fans in attendance at
The Cooking Pot were roasting in the hot sun.
Ibada Allimadi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Cassio Della Corna and
Imre Héjjas. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. The following players took the field for Grilled:
Salmiņš -
Lunde,
Jeftić -
敬龙 (Jinglong),
Xin Lee,
Mohammad Harun,
ter Berg,
Parvathaneni -
Mudaliar,
Ze Han,
Xin Seng.
Fringeheads's lineup was:
Gomes Oliveira -
Apatič,
健铭 (Jianming),
Bărbulescu,
Longari -
Illes,
Muntazir,
Vayeshnoi,
Koppensteiner,
Taleb -
Andreassen.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 4-5-1. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Vikram Mudaliar to score after 21 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Kalki Parvathaneni, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
Vikram Mudaliar's lightning pace was too much for
Angelo Longari who could only look on as the Grilled player blasted one home. 2 - 0. 37 minutes into the game,
Heine Andreassen finished off a Fringeheads left wing counterattack, making the score 2 - 1. After 38 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 2 - 2 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
David Koppensteiner.
Vikram Mudaliar gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 3 - 2 Halftime score was 3 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) off the field.
Heng Dong Chu took his place.
Chu Xin Lee would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Teo Chuan Yong entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 54 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Bilal Mohammad Harun might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Artur Rosa Gomes Oliveira made a spectacular save. With 61 minutes played,
David Koppensteiner came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Fringeheads. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng was shown a yellow card after 66 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
It emerged that
David Koppensteiner had hurt his left foot after 66 minutes, which led him to abandon the game.
Ivan Borichev tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. The crowd was silenced 76 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
Ivan Borichev came in from the left, levelling the score to 3 - 3. Fringeheads's
Andrej Apatič got himself booked for a foul. 88 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Salah Kamel came on for
Kalle ter Berg. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.
Jānis Salmiņš looked great 90 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
Angelo Longari. The match ends 3 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han.
Kalki Parvathaneni on the other hand, had a terrible day. Fringeheads's best player was
Heine Andreassen.
黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) turned in a dismal performance, however.
