It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-4-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Ramseille, taking advantage of their divine (+2) (22) level with that tactic. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+8) (28) level with that tactic.
Chu Xin Lee came close to putting the visiting team one up 12 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Giancarlo Buffon managed to tip the ball to a corner. After 20 minutes, Grilled sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Bilal Mohammad Harun, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1. The visitors added to their lead 25 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Grilled's
Mateja Jeftić slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni came on for
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong).
Hugo Lamm was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Ramseille's defence 55 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 1 - 2. 56 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as
Vikram Mudaliar finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Murathan Esinay knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 2 - 3 after 68 minutes. The home crowd cheered when, after 77 minutes,
Chu Xin Lee's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mateja Jeftić reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb on the pitch. As
Mateja Jeftić exited the field,
Bhavya Panigrahi volunteered to be the new set pieces taker.
Bilal Mohammad Harun would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Teo Chuan Yong entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. After 89 minutes, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 4. The match ends 2 - 4. Grilled had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.
Pierre-Yves Robert performed admirably for Ramseille.
Elías Moreno on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Gilbert Webb's play was disheartening.
