Grilled Birds started the game in a 3-4-3 formation, whereas Haha lined up in a 5-3-2 formation. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Haha clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their mythical (17) level with that tactic. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up after 4 minutes as
Heng Dong Chu got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. Haha's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision!
Aw Tian Jin's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar proved that he's been around on a football pitch before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the opposition's defensive line and elegantly scored for 1 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Chu Xin Lee squirmed through their central defence after 15 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. It emerged that
Vishvesharaiyah Gudivada had hurt his right foot after 22 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. The player that took his place was
Isaac An. Grilled's
Gilbert Webb saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 30 minutes. A counterattack by Haha after 31 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
Giuseppe Ghiringhelli, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. After 35 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Kalle ter Berg might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Giuseppe Teani made a spectacular save. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 76 percent of the ball.
Chan Ze Han could have increased the lead after 47 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) came on for
Heng Dong Chu. Haha were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 79 minutes, but
Aw Tian Jin lofted a free kick over the crossbar. The referee showed Haha's
Chua Ze Xin the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Gilbert Webb would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Bilal Mohammad Harun entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match!
Kalle ter Berg had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 89 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. 90 minutes into the game Haha managed a counterattack, but
Isaac An took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. The counterattack by Haha resulted in a free kick that
Aw Tian Jin bent under the crossbar - 2 - 1! The match ends 2 - 1. Grilled had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Bilal Mohammad Harun's play was disheartening. Most important Haha player was
Giuseppe Ghiringhelli.
Miguel Parguiña on the other hand, had a terrible day.
