The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team ZAMBIA LIONS went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their magical (18) ability to attack in the middle. The guests took the lead 17 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in José Luiz Velho scoring to make it 0 - 1. LIONS's Jones Kunda was shown a yellow card after 25 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 27 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Kalki Parvathaneni who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 2. The visitors' 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 32 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Grilled. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 38 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Gilbert Webb a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. After the ball was lifted in from the left, 冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 42 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. It was 0 - 4 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 74 percent of the ball.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for Heng Dong Chu on the pitch. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Radovan Jaška gave Leonard Nguyen a quick hug as he left the field. With 53 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Prokop Mottl. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. 69 minutes into the match, Salah Kamel came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Dante Tran came on for 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). Given a free kick close to the byline, Grilled tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Prokop Mottl slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 6, 74 minutes into the game. With the scoreboard showing that 76 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after José Luiz Velho came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Salah Kamel received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 77 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 7. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 7. Grilled had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.

Kenny Chipeta performed admirably for LIONS. On the other hand, Gift Sinyangwe's play was disheartening. Most important Grilled player was Salah Kamel. Leonard Nguyen was a disappointment, however.
