East Coast Warriors entered the field in a 5-3-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Warriors clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their extra-terrestrial (16) level with that tactic. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+7) (27) ability to attack in the middle. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni had seen it all before, so he waited patiently for the right opportunity. He would get no better chance than the one he took, but his shot was deftly blocked by the keeper.
Franjo Marčić of Warriors received a yellow card after 32 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
Bernie Egan was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 33 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! After 34 minutes, Warriors sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Nazir Mohd Umar, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng got himself booked for a foul. 42 minutes into the game Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1.
Gerthard Asi looked great 44 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
Chan Ze Han. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Teo Chuan Yong gave
Salah Kamel a quick hug as he left the field. Down the middle came
Moey Xin Seng, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 60 minutes, but
Gerthard Asi preserved the tie. 61 minutes into the game,
Bernie Egan was a hair's breadth away from giving Grilled the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
Gerthard Asi saved the home team that time. Warriors were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 62 minutes into the match, but
Patrizio Nastasi narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
Bernie Egan came close to putting the visiting team one up 64 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Gerthard Asi managed to tip the ball to a corner. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 65 minutes in when
Bernie Egan came up alone against
Gerthard Asi who managed a block. Warriors were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from
Patrizio Nastasi went into the arms of the keeper. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. 1 - 2 was the score with 89 minutes played, after
Moey Xin Seng cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Warriors's coach gave
Sanjay Ao the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Quah Kum Jin reluctantly left the field. Warriors needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 89 minutes
Francesco Bova made way for
Abdul Rahim Zuhair Farizul. The match ends 1 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.
The most dominating Warriors player was without a doubt
Gerthard Asi. However,
Abdul Rahim Zuhair Farizul made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han.
Chu Xin Lee on the other hand, had a terrible day.
