Ranch 1 - 10 Grilled
The crowd of 1939 turning up at
Dude Ranch IV Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Alessandro Tassinari was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Vadim Karzhavin and
Gero Aretin. The rain was pouring down, it was the kind of weather favoured by strong players who stick to simple football. For players blessed by speed or technical skills, the day really was as grim as for everyone else. The following players took the field for Ranch:
Buonanotte -
Barbera,
Della Ventura,
Moccagatta,
Tranchida -
Stangalino,
Bausola,
Tamburi,
Piccinonno,
Lumbroso -
Polani.
Grilled's starters:
Vara -
Jeftić,
Thevar -
Muthyala,
Xin Lee,
Chuan Yong,
Xin Seng,
Dong Chu -
Parvathaneni,
Mottl,
Jian Hui.
Dude Ranch IV fielded a 4-5-1 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. Grilled displayed their magical (18) ability to play creatively.
Massimiliano Della Ventura caught everyone by surprise with a unexpected volley after 5 minutes.
Pierpaolo Lumbroso was perfectly placed to take advantage of the play, but unfortunately, he was as surprised as anyone and couldn't finish for Ranch. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni after 10 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. That Ranch's
Massimiliano Della Ventura has the ability of doing what no one expects him to do was shown as he ran over an opposing defender, snatched the ball and passed to
Carlo Stangalino who hit it hard into the wide open goal after 12 minutes: 1 - 1! Grilled took the lead 21 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Prokop Mottl was the scorer. Sensing defeat in the air, the Ranch manager directed
Massimiliano Della Ventura and
Carlo Stangalino to change positions with each other. This was 26 minutes into the match. 27 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Ranch substitution.
Hanno Cermak came on for
Carlo Stangalino.
Chu Xin Lee was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 37 minutes, with his right thigh bandaged. The replacement for the injured player was
José Luiz Velho. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Heng Dong Chu after 38 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal.
Graziano Tranchida was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 39 minutes.
Freddie Mara tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. With
Graziano Tranchida no longer on the pitch,
Guarino Bausola took over free kick duty. After 40 minutes, Grilled's
Prokop Mottl burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3.
Kalki Parvathaneni of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 42 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.
Teo Chuan Yong would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Radovan Jaška entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. 52 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 5 as
Chirag Thevar finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 57 minutes, making it 1 - 6.
Neeraj Muthyala was noted down as the scorer. The home crowd was not impressed when
Heng Dong Chu came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 58 minutes. Grilled were now up 1 - 7.
Neeraj Muthyala of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 8 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Mateja Jeftić. A drive down the left side allowed
Moey Xin Seng to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 72 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 9.
Prokop Mottl of Grilled was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 78 minutes, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni swiftly ran past
Freddie Mara and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 10. By then
Kalki Parvathaneni had scored three goals - a hat trick! The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 5 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 10. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 65 percent of the ball.
Ranch's best player was
Francesco Piccinonno.
Freddie Mara was a disappointment, however.
Moey Xin Seng performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand,
Chirag Thevar's play was disheartening.
