The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Sunseeker of Paris , went for a 3-5-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. With 15 minutes of the match played, a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Chu Xin Lee, after dashing down on goal from the left and finding himself with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. After 18 minutes, Grilled raised their score by one when
Teo Chuan Yong's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
Moey Xin Seng. 0 - 1. Grilled's
Bernie Egan received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 20 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 2. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one!
Michal Danda almost lowered the gap having danced through the entire left side of the defense, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper
Massoud Dob and his left defense could have resulted in a goal for Sunseeker, but
Roland Paulay's finish was way too meek. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Sunseeker's
Valeriu Năipeanu finally got himself booked for a foul. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. After 63 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed
Chu Xin Lee to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Bhavya Panigrahi reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb. After 72 minutes of play, Grilled's
Chu Xin Lee unexpectedly kicked the ball with reverse spin, and from no angle at all it ended up at the feet of
Teo Chuan Yong who had an easy tap-in for 0 - 4. The visitors'
Chan Ze Han took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 77 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Grilled. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as
Roland Paulay tried lifting the ball over keeper
Massoud Dob. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.
Teo Chuan Yong was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but
Bilal Mohammad Harun seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. When
Valeriu Năipeanu made yet another spikes-first tackle after 90 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the Sunseeker player for the second time, which automatically ejected him from the game. As
Valeriu Năipeanu left the field, the coach signaled to
Pierpaolo Indaco to be the new set pieces taker. As Sunseeker's captain went off, he handed the armband to
Alexey Makhalov. The match ends 0 - 5. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 52 percent of possession.
Michal Danda performed admirably for Sunseeker. Good thing
Pierpaolo Indaco isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Grilled's best player was
Vikram Mudaliar. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Teo Chuan Yong today.
