Sarcastic Fringeheads started the game in a 5-5-0 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+8) (28) level with that tactic. 黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) had been given instructions to man mark Chan Ze Han. And he carried his orders out perfectly, following close, reducing the options for his mark. Fringeheads took the lead 5 minutes in, as Hans Heinrich Merkatz broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Coming through the middle Kalle ter Berg almost scored the equaliser for Grilled after 16 minutes, but Artur Rosa Gomes Oliveira made an excellent save, tipping the awkward curled shot past the post. Grilled's Kalle ter Berg hurt his back 41 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. Teo Chuan Yong tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Fringeheads had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Grilled's coach gave Moey Xin Seng the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Bilal Mohammad Harun reluctantly left the field. Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes Chu Xin Lee made way for Cyril Künzler. Fringeheads's Ryan Kerr got himself booked for a foul. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, managing only 67 minutes for his team this day. Grilled had no available replacements, leaving the team a man short. It was a fine day for Ryan Kerr on his wing, his cross pass to Hans Heinrich Merkatz was especially delicate 69 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 70 minutes, Chan Ze Han broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. Artur Rosa Gomes Oliveira made a great block, though. Artur Rosa Gomes Oliveira's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from Vikram Mudaliar's shot from the left 72 minutes into the match. As the 73 minute mark approached, the Fringeheads coach decided it was time for a substitution. Ryan Kerr reluctantly made way for Gareth Illes on the pitch. Mladen Jurkota entered the game for Fringeheads as the match clock showed 85 minutes. With Chew Fu Chuan no longer on the pitch, Andrej Apatič became the new set pieces taker. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! David Koppensteiner could have put Fringeheads up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Fringeheads, with 54 percent of the ball.

Most important Fringeheads player was Hans Heinrich Merkatz. 黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) was a disappointment, however. Vikram Mudaliar performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Chan Ze Han's play was disheartening.
