Garpe-Shan 1 - 11 Grilled

Clear skies welcomed the 1969 spectators who had made their way to Garpe-Shan United Arena. Ab Maassen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Concetto Marazzina and Marcelinho Bortoluzzi. Garpe-Shan's lineup was: Thu - Wutzky, Gachaga - Zuburu, Zischek, Min Hteik, Köhrer-Klees, Luley - Thein Win, Min Oo, Rämä.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Vadalà - Jeftić, Thevar - Künzler, ter Berg, Chuan Yong, Xin Seng, Dong Chu - Egan, Mottl, Jian Hui.

The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. Grilled demonstrated their extra-terrestrial (16) creative tactics on the field. 0 - 1 was the score with 8 minutes played, after Prokop Mottl cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. A drive down the left side allowed Cyril Künzler to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 10 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2. David Zuburu upset his teammates somewhat when he nearly caused an own goal by acting negligently. With 28 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Moey Xin Seng. 29 minutes into the match, Garpe-Shan's Htet Min Oo collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 1 - 3. 30 minutes into the game, Garpe-Shan seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid (7) level of organisation. After 33 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Bernie Egan a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 4. Grilled's Heng Dong Chu was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Halftime score was 1 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.

During the break, Garpe-Shan's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid (7) organisation. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Cyril Künzler reluctantly made way for 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) on the pitch. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chirag Thevar gave Radovan Jaška a quick hug as he left the field. Prokop Mottl would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. José Luiz Velho entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. With things not going too well on the field, the Garpe-Shan coach made the decision to swap the positions of Georges Luley and Azizi Gachaga with 46 minutes played. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Garpe-Shan substitution. Zayar Htet Min came on for Juhana Rämä. After 46 minutes, the Garpe-Shan coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Christian Zischek off the field. Sei Thu Min Than took his place. Yee Jian Hui of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 47 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 5. Bernie Egan received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 56 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 6. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 57 minutes into the game, Grilled's Manuel Vadalà rolled over in pain after taking a forceful blow to his upper chest. After bandaging his collarbone, the medics led him off the field. Kalle ter Berg rose to the challenge and took position between the goal posts. Georges Luley got left behind when Grilled's Bernie Egan left scorch marks in the turf 58 minutes, finishing off with a blisteringly swift strike. 1-7! By then Bernie Egan had scored three goals - a hat trick! The visitors' 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 59 minutes into the match. 1 - 8 for Grilled. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 64 minutes, making it 1 - 9. Bernie Egan was noted down as the scorer. 65 minutes in, Garpe-Shan appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor (3). Garpe-Shan's Thomas Köhrer-Klees was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 66 minutes. 73 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 10 as Bernie Egan finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. One of many good crosses from Heng Dong Chu on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Bernie Egan, who scored for Grilled. 1 - 11 As the 80 minute mark approached, the Garpe-Shan coach decided it was time for a substitution. David Zuburu reluctantly made way for Louis Leverenz on the pitch. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 5 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 11. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.

Garpe-Shan's top performer was clearly Nyein Min Hteik. Htet Min Oo was a disappointment, however. Moey Xin Seng performed admirably for Grilled. Radovan Jaška turned in a dismal performance, however.
