Grilled 3 - 0 Sporting

The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The following players took the field: Dob - Webb, Jeftić - 敬龙 (Jinglong), ter Berg, Ze Han, Kamel, Xin Lee - Parvathaneni, Xin Seng, Egan.

They fielded: Moechars - Rauque, Rong Wei, Mahmudov, Dzierla, Bitok - Marques, Oliva, Méndez Mora, Wahib, Pubert -.

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Sporting do Tobago lined up in a 5-5-0. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+7) (27) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Like this humble reporter trying to score a date with Charlotte McKinney, Sporting enjoyed the Long Shots today, demonstrating their excellent (8) skill at it. Grilled had a good opportunity to take the lead as Kalki Parvathaneni came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Laurens Moechars. Many thought Salah Kamel ought to have been awarded a penalty 31 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat Laurens Moechars after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. Moey Xin Seng gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) reluctantly made way for Neeraj Muthyala. Grilled's Moey Xin Seng saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 49 minutes in. After 57 minutes, Bernie Egan put Grilled ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Mateja Jeftić off. Bhavya Panigrahi took his place. With Mateja Jeftić no longer on the field, Neeraj Muthyala was the new set pieces taker. 67 minutes in, Sporting appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only solid (7). A great save by keeper Laurens Moechars with 73 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after Chan Ze Han struck from the left with a real cannonball. After 77 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Sporting found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to passable (6). 85 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Chu Xin Lee ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 3 - 0 for Grilled. The match ends 3 - 0. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 65 percent of possession.

The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Moey Xin Seng. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Neeraj Muthyala today. Sporting's top performer was clearly Fernando Mamede Marques. I can't remember Kwek Rong Wei ever having a worse night than he just had.
