It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-5-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of UDNTK, taking advantage of their utopian (19) level with that tactic. Grilled used their divine (+7) (27) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Many thought
Benjamin Godlieb ought to have been awarded a penalty 7 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Massoud Dob after a determined run through the middle. Grilled took the lead 11 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Bhavya Panigrahi was the scorer. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 22 minutes played,
Andrija Galov of UDNTK made the score 1 - 1. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. 24 minutes into the game,
Vikram Mudaliar almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Down the middle came
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong), making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 32 minutes, but
Martin Barbara preserved the tie.
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) made a quick rush after 33 minutes, but
Zakaria Chitinashvili had no problems keeping up the pace and stopped the attack. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 35 minutes into the match left Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
Kalki Parvathaneni came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Martin Barbara but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 49 minutes, the defensive line of UDNTK created a counterattack through the middle that gave
Juan Monge a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. 55 minutes into the game,
Mariano Miguel came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 57 minutes gave UDNTK a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
Andrija Galov stepped up to the challenge. 2 - 2 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Chu Xin Lee gave
Bilal Mohammad Harun a quick hug as he left the field.
Martin Barbara looked great 62 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
Vikram Mudaliar.
Gerald Gajic of UDNTK was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar after 89 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead. The match ends 2 - 3. Grilled had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
Andrija Galov performed admirably for UDNTK.
Juan Monge on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was
Moey Xin Seng.
Salah Kamel turned in a dismal performance, however.
