Haha 3 - 1 Grilled
The crowd of 60178 turning up at
Hehe Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Marcos Neto was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gerónimo Abadía and
Fryderyk Słabuszewski. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. Haha's lineup was:
Gudivada -
Khairil Syahmi,
Yun Shi,
Tian Jin -
Ruessel,
Grott,
Rocha,
Trang,
Corbean -
de Rougemont,
Rampazzi.
Grilled's starters:
Dob -
Jeftić,
Panigrahi -
Xin Lee,
Kamel,
Mohammad Harun,
ter Berg,
Parvathaneni -
Egan,
Ze Han,
Xin Seng.
Haha started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Haha's
Nasrul Haq Khairil Syahmi was man marking
Chan Ze Han, and did it well, but often at the cost of abandoning his own position. The head of
Aw Tian Jin connected with a corner kick after 19 minutes, and the ball ended up with
Basilio Rampazzi of Haha who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Sorin-Dan Corbean squirmed through their central defence after 22 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. In the lead, Haha adjusted their style of play with 23 minutes gone.
Bernie Egan's experience almost gave Grilled a goal after 24 minutes but the keeper made a great save. Haha's
Sorin-Dan Corbean got himself booked for a foul.
Kalle ter Berg was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 26 minutes.
Neeraj Muthyala had already been warming up, and came on for
Kalle ter Berg.
Basilio Rampazzi increased the lead for Haha to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! After 32 minutes
Moey Xin Seng seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for Grilled making it 3 - 1. A great save by keeper
Massoud Dob after 36 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Sorin-Dan Corbean struck from the left with a real cannonball. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Haha claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Grilled kept trying to force their way through on the right side and
Chan Ze Han got his chance after 48 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack.
Mariusz Grott unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mateja Jeftić reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb on the pitch. With
Mateja Jeftić no longer on the pitch,
Bhavya Panigrahi became the new set pieces taker. Grilled's
Chu Xin Lee was shown a yellow card after 70 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
72 minutes in,
Bernie Egan made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
Vishvesharaiyah Gudivada refused to let the ball slip by him. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 3 - 1. Haha had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
Ursin de Rougemont performed admirably for Haha.
Vishvesharaiyah Gudivada on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's best player was
Moey Xin Seng. On the other hand,
Chan Ze Han's play was disheartening.
