It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 3-5-2. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+8) (28) ability to great effect. TWEEZERS's
Sigurlás Hafsteinsson was man marking
Salah Kamel, and did it well, but often at the cost of abandoning his own position. Grilled created a good opportunity to score 9 minutes into the game when
Kalki Parvathaneni's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, but the visitors' defenders eventually won out. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han tried to break through the middle repeatedly, but the visitors' defenders were just too alert. After 26 minutes, TWEEZERS's
Marian Choma made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. No matter how hard he tried,
Moey Xin Seng just couldn't get past the visitors' right side defense 29 minutes in and eventually the ball was cleared away. The away team's
Allan Fletcher took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 30 minutes increasing TWEEZERS's lead to 0 - 2.
Bernie Egan almost lowered the gap having danced through the entire left side of the defense, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Grilled's
Kalle ter Berg was shown a yellow card after 38 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. With the scoreboard showing that 48 minutes had been played, TWEEZERS nearly put themselves up another goal after
Marian Choma came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 55 minutes into the game, but Grilled sent the ball sideways instead, giving
Kalle ter Berg a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 1 - 2!
Salah Kamel seemed to be defying gravity as he elegantly headed in a goal for Grilled after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
Mateja Jeftić. That makes it 2 - 2. The visiting
Jan Aune was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 67 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 2 - 3 was the score.
Kalle ter Berg knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Grilled player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bernie Egan gave
Vikram Mudaliar a quick hug as he left the field. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Mateja Jeftić reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb. With
Mateja Jeftić no longer on the field,
Bhavya Panigrahi stepped up to be the new set pieces taker.
Kalki Parvathaneni made a superb effort after 79 minutes after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second to preserve the away lead.
Nick Upadek brought the corner down with his chest before whipping it to
Sigurlás Hafsteinsson who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. The visitors'
Nick Upadek took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 82 minutes into the match. 2 - 4 for TWEEZERS. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 4. TWEEZERS set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Salah Kamel seemed to stumble all over the pitch. TWEEZERS's best player was
Jan Aune. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Sigurlás Hafsteinsson sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
