Grilled 3 - 0 Fringeheads
The 88012 fans in attendance at
The Cooking Pot were roasting in the hot sun.
Flavio Crema was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
陳 (Chen) 超坤 (Chaokun) and
Jahn Baster. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. The following players had been chosen by Grilled:
Dob -
Jeftić,
Panigrahi -
敬龙 (Jinglong),
Kamel,
Xin Lee,
ter Berg,
Dong Chu -
Egan,
Ze Han,
Xin Seng.
Fringeheads's lineup was:
Pandelescu -
Patca,
健铭 (Jianming),
Chan,
Apatič,
Jurkota -
Milostić,
Muntazir,
Koppensteiner,
Taleb -
Karlsson.
Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Sarcastic Fringeheads, chose to start the game with a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled saw most attack opportunities on the wings, taking advantage of their divine (+8) (28) level with that tactic. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Fringeheads on this day, taking advantage of their utopian (19) level with that tactic. After 2 minutes, a penalty kick by
Vincent Chan could have resulted in the lead for the visitors, but the keeper made the save. Grilled's
Kalle ter Berg was shown a yellow card after 3 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
David Koppensteiner slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on.
黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) had been given instructions to man mark
Chan Ze Han. And he carried his orders out perfectly, following close, reducing the options for his mark.
Heng Dong Chu always provides an aerial threat at corners, and with 10 minutes gone, he demonstrated this, outjumping his marker, then letting out an anguished howl as his powerful header went narrowly wide. Grilled created a good opportunity to score 18 minutes into the match when
Moey Xin Seng's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. After 21 minutes, a counter attack by Fringeheads was converted into a decent free kick opportunity. However, the indirect free kick routine was easily anticipated by the defenders. A textbook example of how to defend a free kick - the attackers were left with few viable options.
黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) came close to putting the visiting team one up 27 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Massoud Dob managed to tip the ball to a corner. Grilled broke through on the left 28 minutes into the game, with
Kalle ter Berg firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 29 minutes into the match after a good combination through the middle, but when
Mladen Milostić tried to finish the attack, he couldn't get enough power on the shot to seriously challenge the keeper. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 63 percent of the ball.
Players in Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
Kalle ter Berg cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 74 minutes into the game by
Kalki Parvathaneni.
Heng Dong Chu left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 74 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
Bilal Mohammad Harun was the replacement.
Mladen Milostić would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Ryan Kerr entered the game for Fringeheads as the match clock showed 77 minutes. Fringeheads needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 77 minutes
Vincent Chan made way for
Heine Andreassen. As
Vincent Chan exited the field,
Andrej Apatič volunteered to be the new set pieces taker.
Kalki Parvathaneni of Grilled was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish
Mladen Jurkota, which resulted in a goal making the score 3 - 0. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Mateja Jeftić off the field.
Gilbert Webb took his place. With
Mateja Jeftić no longer on the pitch,
Bhavya Panigrahi took over free kick duty.
Zaki Taleb could've grabbed a goal for Fringeheads 85 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation.
Kalle ter Berg could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 86 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. Grilled's
Chu Xin Lee swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Grilled were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni had an excellent opportunity after 90 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! The match ends 3 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Salah Kamel. However,
Bilal Mohammad Harun made a disastrous appearance. Fringeheads's best player was
Finn Karlsson.
黄 (Huang) 健铭 (Jianming) turned in a dismal performance, however.
