Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Cakes of Bread, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. With clinical precision, the cross from winger
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) found its way to
Kalle ter Berg's head, and a screaming header gave Grilled a goal after 6 minutes played. The scoreboard read 1 - 0. Grilled put themselves up 2 - 0 when
Bernie Egan broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. It was almost a goal for Grilled following
Moey Xin Seng's good header from a corner kick, but the fans will have to wait a little longer as the ball went wide. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 3 - 0 after 26 minutes. Grilled's
Mateja Jeftić struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 4 - 0 after 29 minutes. Grilled solidified their lead at the 33 minute mark, as
Kalki Parvathaneni snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 5 - 0. Cheers filled the stadium as
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 6 - 0 goal for Grilled. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 38 minutes on the clock after
Kalle ter Berg's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Grilled player a yellow card though. The teams went for the halftime break at 6 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 76 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Grilled were given a penalty after 55 minutes - neatly put away by
Mateja Jeftić. 7 - 0 for the home side. A great save by keeper
Matty Leask with 61 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after
Bhavya Panigrahi struck from the left with a real cannonball. With 68 minutes played, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Bhavya Panigrahi looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Gilbert Webb, though he would have liked to continue. The clock read 71 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 8 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong). After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Cakes's
Stewart Norman finally got himself booked for a foul. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 9 - 0 when
Moey Xin Seng slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
Bernie Egan gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 10 - 0 after 74 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Heng Dong Chu came on for
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong). The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 10 - 0. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Most important Grilled player was
Moey Xin Seng. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Chu Xin Lee today.
Adam Wessman performed admirably for Cakes. Good thing
Matty Leask isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
