The clouds were hanging menacingly over the stadium today. The following players took the field:
Kobbe -
Riehl,
Fragstein zu Niemsdorff,
Arnold -
Plachetka,
Vršnik,
Parlato,
Urgellès,
Celestino -
Chifflet,
Vrany.
They fielded:
Dob -
Panigrahi,
Jeftić -
敬龙 (Jinglong),
Ze Han,
ter Berg,
Kamel,
Xin Lee -
Parvathaneni,
Xin Seng,
Egan.
The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, The Great Green Arkleseizure, went for a 3-5-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. As quick as a flash,
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) of Grilled lost his man and passed the ball to the wide-open
Kalki Parvathaneni who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. 10 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Some fine one-twos on the left led to a Grilled goal with 21 minutes gone, making it 0 - 2.
Bernie Egan was noted down as the scorer. Maybe
Àlex Urgellès should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 23 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. The home crowd was not impressed when
Bernie Egan came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 24 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 3. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 75 percent of possession.
Greenhorn's
Vinicius Celestino set up a perfect opportunity for
Àlex Urgellès, but the latter failed to score. 74 minutes into the match,
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The visitors'
Bhavya Panigrahi took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 75 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Grilled.
Lukas-Adolf Vrany of Greenhorn received a yellow card after 76 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. Given a free kick from a ways out after 79 minutes, Grilled sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but
Moey Xin Seng was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 0 - 5. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Cyril Künzler, though he would have liked to continue.
Vinicius Celestino was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but
Lukáš Plachetka seemed unable to profit from this excellent service.
Volker Kobbe got a fingertip on
Kalle ter Berg's shot from the left 82 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. A bit of trash talk erupted into a fight as players from both sides congregated in the center of the field 83 minutes into the match. After separating the two sides, the referee and his linesman discussed the scurrilous chain of events - this eventually led to the referee calling Greenhorn's
Klemens Fragstein zu Niemsdorff to one side and giving him a straight red card. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Mateja Jeftić gave
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) a quick hug as he left the field. As
Mateja Jeftić left the field, the coach signaled to
Cyril Künzler to be the new set pieces taker. With 85 minutes played,
Kalki Parvathaneni nearly put the visitors up by one more as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot whizzed just over the bar. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Grilled's
Cyril Künzler received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 90 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 6. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The match ends 0 - 6. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before.
Lukas-Adolf Vrany performed admirably for Greenhorn. I can't remember
Bruno Arnold ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's best player was
Moey Xin Seng. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Bhavya Panigrahi sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
