Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Sarcastic Fringeheads lined up in a 5-4-1 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+7) ability to attack in the middle. For their match strategy, Fringeheads had decided to use their utopian ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Fringeheads were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 4 minutes,
Vincent Chan swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. Where ever
Bilal Mohammad Harun went,
Ivan Borichev was there, nibbling on his heels. An admirable display of efficient man marking! The cannonball from 35 metres by
Neeraj Muthyala of Grilled was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
Zaki Taleb showed why he is feared on the counterattack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Fringeheads after 40 minutes to make the score 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.
Fringeheads showed their counterattack skill 54 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
Zaki Taleb scoring uncontested for 0 - 3. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Grilled's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 74 minutes into the match as
Bernie Egan ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 3. 75 minutes in, Fringeheads's
Răzvan Patca received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 76 minutes,
Moey Xin Seng suffered a slight injury to his left calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. After 77 minutes,
Gilbert Webb had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Grilled with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. After 80 minutes, the Fringeheads coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chew Fu Chuan off the field.
Álvaro Baptista took his place.
Chew Fu Chuan was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Vincent Chan got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills.
Kalki Parvathaneni would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Heng Dong Chu entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Moey Xin Seng gave
Vikram Mudaliar a quick hug as he left the field.
Chan Ze Han was handed the Grilled captain's armband. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Mateja Jeftić came on for
Gilbert Webb. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Manuel Vadalà's play was disheartening. Most important Fringeheads player was
Ryan Kerr.
Ivan Borichev turned in a dismal performance, however.
