Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Arrogancae lined up in a 5-4-1 formation. Grilled used their divine (+7) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Arrogancae were relying on their magical ability to counter-attack. After 6 minutes,
Kalki Parvathaneni came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Grilled the lead. Grilled increased the lead as
Kalle ter Berg struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Grilled's
Bernie Egan saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 34 minutes. 38 minutes in, Arrogancae appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only passable. After 39 minutes,
Nicola Abis sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
Gisbert Odewald's shot. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Grilled solidified their lead at the 41 minute mark, as
Heng Dong Chu dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
Bernie Egan had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 42 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.
A review of the gameplan helped Arrogancae get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
Bernie Egan could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 60 minutes. After 62 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Bilal Mohammad Harun might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Guno Mao made a spectacular save.
Čārlzs Ezerietis knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 3 - 1 after 63 minutes. After 64 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Arrogancae found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. A great save by keeper
Guno Mao after 65 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Bernie Egan struck from the left with a real cannonball. With 66 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Arrogancae resulted in a counterattack that set
Gisbert Odewald free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. 74 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Vikram Mudaliar broke through, making the score 4 - 1 for Grilled. The Grilled players could smell victory in the air.
Chu Xin Lee wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Cyril Künzler after 80 minutes.
Kalki Parvathaneni would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Moey Xin Seng entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 88 minutes. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
Salah Kamel. At last, Grilled's
Neeraj Muthyala was able to backheel the ball in. 5 - 1.
Heng Dong Chu should probably have put his team up another goal after 89 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Guno Mao kept the visitors in the game. After 90 minutes, the defensive line of Arrogancae created a counterattack through the middle that gave
Nicola Abis a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The match ends 5 - 1. Grilled had most of the ball, with 72 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Bernie Egan. On the other hand,
Salah Kamel's play was disheartening. Arrogancae's best player was
Gisbert Odewald.
Guno Mao was a disappointment, however.
