As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Nov were mostly trying to use their divine (+4) skill at attacking on the flanks. 2 minutes into the game,
Salah Kamel had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Nov broke through on the left after 7 minutes, with
Maikol Hernández firing at an impossible angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Nov's
Juan Gregory had an excellent opportunity 16 minutes in, shooting after bringing down a ball from the right, but he missed the goal by miles! The visitors'
Salah Kamel was alert on a play coming in from the left, evening things up at 1 - 1 after 27 minutes. Nov took the lead 35 minutes in, as
Roc Pallarès broke through on the left and put his shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper, bringing the score to 2 - 1. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 54 percent possession of the ball.
46 minutes into the game, Nov wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Roc Pallarès gave
Slaheddine Alouini a quick hug as he left the field. With
Roc Pallarès no longer on the field,
Slaheddine Alouini was the new set pieces taker.
Gus Clarke was handed the Nov captain's armband. While defending the Nov lead,
Gus Clarke got a new role. 46 minutes in the game, his coach ordered him to change places with
Juan Gregory. With the clock showing 60 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chan Ze Han, though he would have liked to continue.
Chan Ze Han became the new Grilled captain. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Bhavya Panigrahi reluctantly made way for
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). As
Bhavya Panigrahi left the field, the coach signaled to
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) to start taking the set pieces that occurred.
Kalki Parvathaneni made a quick break after 64 minutes, but
Massimiliano D'Anna had no problem keeping up and was able to stop the attack. After 70 minutes, the Nov coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Massimiliano D'Anna off.
Ejner Høy took his place. The visitors didn't give in and, after 74 minutes,
Bernie Egan got through the home side's central line of defense, rolling in the leveling goal to make it 2 - 2. Grilled had a good opportunity to score the go-ahead goal after a combination on the right but the home team's keeper
Ramón Rui saved
Kalle ter Berg's shot that was headed straight to the top corner. 2 - 3 was the score after 81 minutes, when Grilled's
Kalle ter Berg cut through the central defense and pounded one in. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 2 - 3. Well, look at this! Nikki Minaj is on the Jumbotron in naught but pink lipstick, soccer balls, and a Ben Nevis of platinum hair. I've not seen anything like it before. She's not got enough room inside her for a rheumatic pain. Can you hear her? Nov's best player was
Maikol Hernández. I can't remember
Mario Fonseca ever having a worse night than he just had.
Bernie Egan performed admirably for Grilled. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) today.
