Sarcastic Fringeheads entered the field in a 5-3-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Fringeheads clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their divine (+1) level with that tactic. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+7) level with that tactic. Fringeheads had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 12 minutes, but
Chew Fu Chuan's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. Fringeheads were awarded a penalty 15 minutes into the game but
Chew Fu Chuan produced a poor shot, quite easily saved by
Massoud Dob. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Down the middle came
Kalki Parvathaneni, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 24 minutes, but
Radu Pandelescu preserved the tie.
Zaki Taleb was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Ramsès Prats seemed unable to profit from this excellent service.
Chu Xin Lee came close to putting the visiting team one up 39 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Radu Pandelescu managed to tip the ball to a corner. A sublimely cunning counterattack by Fringeheads resulted in the awarding of a free kick that
Chew Fu Chuan brutally hammered, twisting it mid-flight past the flailing hands of the keeper and into the net - 1 - 0! Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 42 minutes into the match after a good combination through the middle, but when
Vikram Mudaliar tried to finish the attack, he couldn't get enough power on the shot to seriously challenge the keeper. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
Fringeheads's
David Koppensteiner saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 48 minutes.
Vikram Mudaliar of Grilled received a yellow card after 53 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The swift technical skills of
Ramsès Prats were often too much for the tall but somewhat slow
Moey Xin Seng who was humiliated after 62 minutes. He'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief after the final shot went wide. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. 67 minutes into the game Grilled's
Chu Xin Lee found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 71 minutes, Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2. After 72 minutes, Fringeheads switched
Vincent Chan with
Ryan Kerr, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. The Fringeheads players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. As the game started to slip away for Fringeheads, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. After 75 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Kalki Parvathaneni off the field.
Chan Ze Han took his place. 78 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Fringeheads substitution.
Ivan Borichev came on for
David Koppensteiner. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 1 minute as stoppage time. After 89 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Moey Xin Seng who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3. The match ends 1 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
Fringeheads's best player was
Finn Karlsson. However,
Chew Fu Chuan made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Vikram Mudaliar.
Bhavya Panigrahi was a disappointment, however.
