Puh 0 - 5 Grilled

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 47700 at Puh erh Zoo today. Godot Chatton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sebastian Künzli and Constantin Hucanu. The following players took the field for Puh: Santos - Lötzbeyer, Duma, Wainaina - Wojna, Islam, Megan, Bastianutti, Martignetti - Zuñiga.

Grilled's starters: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Kamel, Mohammad Harun, ter Berg, Xin Seng, Xin Lee - Parvathaneni, Mudaliar, Egan.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+7) level with that tactic. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Corrado Duma from Puh a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 9 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni proved that he's been around on a football pitch before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the opposition's defensive line and elegantly scored for 0 - 1. 27 minutes into the game, Puh had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. With 30 minutes gone, Grilled had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, Bilal Mohammad Harun did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Kalle ter Berg got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy. After 38 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Salah Kamel a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. 39 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Puh's Corrado Duma received his second yellow card and was sent off. A drive down the left side allowed Bernie Egan to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 40 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

During the break, Puh's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. After 47 minutes of game time, Moey Xin Seng had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Julio César Santos was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. After 68 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Vikram Mudaliar who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 4. Khaled Islam went down after twisting his left ankle in minute 69, but was able to continue the match none the less. 69 minutes into the game, Puh seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) replace Gilbert Webb after 70 minutes. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 76 minutes, Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, Kalki Parvathaneni would have put Grilled up another goal 80 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Heng Dong Chu came on for Kalki Parvathaneni. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 0 - 5. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.

Puh's best player was William Wainaina. However, Antonio Bastianutti made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's top performer was clearly Vikram Mudaliar. On the other hand, Heng Dong Chu's play was disheartening.
