Clementi 1 - 8 Grilled

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 12000 had shown up at Clementi Road for the match. Jograj Shah was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Daniele Del Sorbo and Ralf Oving. Clementi fielded: Phong - Venkatesh, bin Ibrahim, Chie-Yong - Heng-Hai, Shu-Yaan, Wei-Sheng, Chih - Yi-Qun, Ze Ze, Ze Ze.

Grilled's starters: Vadal - Webb, Panigrahi - Knzler, Egan, Ze Han, Mudaliar, Xin Lee - Xin Seng, Muthyala, Mohammad Harun.

FC Clementi fielded a 3-4-3 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. Grilled's Cyril Knzler gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 7 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Spectacularly inept play by Chu Xin Lee resulted in an own goal after 11 minutes. 1 - 1. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar after 12 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by Bernie Egan. At last, Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 3. With the scoreboard showing that 26 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after Moey Xin Seng came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. After 35 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Clementi found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. After 39 minutes, Grilled sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Bernie Egan, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 4. 40 minutes into the game, Grilled's Manuel Vadal rolled over in pain after taking a forceful blow to his upper chest. After bandaging his collarbone, the medics led him off the field. Massoud Dob tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. 41 minutes into the game, Grilled's Cyril Knzler rolled over in pain after taking a forceful blow to his upper chest. After bandaging his collarbone, the medics led him off the field. The player that took his place was Heng Dong Chu. With 42 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Moey Xin Seng of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 5. It was 1 - 5 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 80 percent of possession.

The Clementi players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bernie Egan reluctantly made way for Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. With 51 minutes played, Neeraj Muthyala nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The referee showed Clementi's Zhuang Ze Ze the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 69 minutes, Heng Dong Chu took a hard knock between his legs. He needed a long breather but was eventually able to continue the game. Heng Dong Chu received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 70 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 6. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 74 minutes into the game, Clementi seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organisation. After 84 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed Kalki Parvathaneni to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 7. Grilled increased their lead after 85 minutes when Moey Xin Seng broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 8, much to the home crowd's dismay. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Moey Xin Seng got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 5 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Sze Ma Phong got a fingertip on Moey Xin Seng's shot from the left 90 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The match ends 1 - 8. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 84 percent.

Clementi's best player was Zhuang Ze Ze. Sze Ma Phong turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly Moey Xin Seng. However, Bhavya Panigrahi made a disastrous appearance.
