Agatian 0 - 7 Grilled
4282 spectators had found their way to
The Agatian el Greco Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Michel Westerlaan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tom Dinghobl and
Antoni Żbik. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. Agatian's starters:
Manlapit -
Libranda,
Luck -
Manosa,
Mahadik,
Maratita,
Okada,
Gaban -
Lumba,
Esch,
Ruding.
Grilled's lineup was:
Vadalà -
Abdul Majid,
Webb -
Xin Lee,
Egan,
Kamel,
Mudaliar,
Xin Seng -
Tarin,
Velho,
Mohammad Harun.
The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 2 minutes allowed
Chu Xin Lee to score for Grilled. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. The visitors'
Chu Xin Lee took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 6 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. With the scoreboard showing that 8 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after
Bernie Egan came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. A drive down the left side allowed
Bernie Egan to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 9 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Jérémy Tarin got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy.
Chu Xin Lee received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 25 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At that,
Chu Xin Lee was noted down for a hat trick! Still ahead in the game after 44 minutes, Grilled made some tactical adjustments.
Bilal Mohammad Harun and
Moey Xin Seng swapped positions. Halftime score was 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.
A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Jérémy Tarin after 63 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. After 70 minutes,
Tyson Lumba took a hard knock between his legs. He needed a long breather but was eventually able to continue the game. Grilled made it 0 - 5 as
Moey Xin Seng got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
Mohd Jafni Abdul Majid who whipped a low drive in off the far post. After 76 minutes, Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. The referee signalled a penalty 77 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
Jérémy Tarin knocked it home to make the score 0 - 7. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Leonard Nguyen came on for
Jérémy Tarin. With
Jérémy Tarin no longer on the pitch,
Gilbert Webb became the new set pieces taker. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 7. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 70 percent of the ball.
Tyson Lumba performed admirably for Agatian. On the other hand,
Edgar Manlapit's play was disheartening. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Salah Kamel. However,
Leonard Nguyen made a disastrous appearance.
