Singapore 6 - 0 Grilled

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 48476 that came out to The Doghouse. Wahid Abdeslam was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Frank Quinn and 駿一郎 (Shunichiro) 小池 (Koike). For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. Singapore's lineup was: Mabenda - Svensson, Venzin, Lindqvist - Murthy, Ting Lee, Zhang, Xiao, Chu Shun - Andersson, Yew Leong.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Mudaliar, Ze Han, Xin Seng, Mottl - Xin Lee, Egan, Parvathaneni.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Singapore Big Dogs went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. With 11 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Jani Lindqvist flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. The referee showed Grilled's Chu Xin Lee the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 22 minutes played, Singapore put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Alistair Xiao, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Massoud Dob was caught napping as Jani Lindqvist lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. Grilled's Prokop Mottl got himself booked for a foul. Cyril Künzler nearly reduced the lead 35 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by Wicaksana Mabenda prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Singapore, with 60 percent of the ball.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) reluctantly made way for Bhavya Panigrahi on the pitch. Clever play that showed his experience gave Kalki Parvathaneni a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Singapore scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Tay Ting Lee after 61 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Singapore to 4 - 0 as Mahesh Murthy finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Gilbert Webb off the field. Hoàng Trung Quá took his place. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Singapore managed to extend their lead to 5 - 0 when Leong Chu Shun cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Singapore increased the lead as Alex Zhang struck to make the score 6 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. The match ends 6 - 0. Singapore claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

The most dominating Singapore player was without a doubt Deng Yew Leong. However, Emanuel Andersson made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was Bernie Egan. Hoàng Trung Quá on the other hand, had a terrible day.
