Risp 2 - 4 Grilled

Fairly good weather for football at the stadium today. The following players had been selected: Bjorøy - Chyrzyński, Virgadamo, Sønderlund, Vinter - Francl, Parage, Vihinen, Dehoust, Van De Meulebroecke - Kliwan.

Starters: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Künzler, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Xin Seng, Dong Chu - Parvathaneni, Egan, Mudaliar.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Risp II, went for a 4-5-1, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Risp were mostly trying to use their divine (+4) skill at attacking on the flanks. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+5) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. After 20 minutes, Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. After 23 minutes, Ralf Kliwan rushed down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the 1 - 1 goal. 28 minutes into the game, Vikram Mudaliar had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. 40 minutes into the game, a swerving free kick by Santino Virgadamo almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the shot glanced harmlessly off the frame of the goal. Making his way up the middle after 41 minutes, Lari Vihinen almost managed to sneak a goal past the visitors' keeper, but Massoud Dob was ready and blocked it to keep the score level. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 57 percent of possession.

With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Chan Ze Han, though he would have liked to continue. Chan Ze Han became the new Grilled captain. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. Grilled took the lead 57 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Bernie Egan was the scorer. Due to some great work on the right wing Risp's Lari Vihinen was able to even the score 71 minutes in to 2 - 2. Kalki Parvathaneni made a quick break after 75 minutes, but Uroš Vinter had no problem keeping up and was able to stop the attack. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. 2 - 3 was the score after 79 minutes, when Grilled's Cyril Künzler cut through the central defense and pounded one in. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Bilal Mohammad Harun off. Salah Kamel took his place. With the match clock reading 80 minutes, the inexperienced Grilled team fell into disarray. Grilled's Cyril Künzler received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 81 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 2 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but Heng Dong Chu was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 85 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. Risp's Ondrej Francl was shown a yellow card after 86 minutes for slicing down an opponent. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After 89 minutes Filip Sønderlund could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. The match ends 2 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Most important Risp player was Ralf Kliwan. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Santino Virgadamo today. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Bernie Egan. Good thing Bhavya Panigrahi isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
