R.ChamWin 1 - 7 Grilled
40365 punters turned up at
Dream World Stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
István Csíki was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Abdumannob 'Aboooo' Boytoev and
Paul Alexander Pilati von Thassul zu Darberg. R.ChamWin's starters:
Guan -
Hernandez,
Pawlikiewicz,
Lipš -
Kang Chu,
Timmermans,
Höllriegelskreuth,
Yi Xin -
Saud,
Candelas,
Fjermestad.
Grilled's lineup was:
Dob -
Webb,
中北 (Nakakita) -
Künzler,
Mohammad Harun,
Muthyala,
Xin Seng,
Dong Chu -
Parvathaneni,
Egan,
Mudaliar.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-4-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's
Gilbert Webb after 1 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. 17 minutes into the game, R.ChamWin's
Heng Kang Chu took a seemingly painful knock to his chest. However, he gritted his teeth and decided to play on. The visitors'
Vikram Mudaliar took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 19 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Vikram Mudaliar delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 32 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Grilled increased their lead after 36 minutes when
Cyril Künzler broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 37 minutes into the match.
Cyril Künzler surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. It was 0 - 3 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the R.ChamWin coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Edward Fjermestad reluctantly made way for
Víctor Grimau on the pitch. With
Edward Fjermestad no longer on the pitch,
Poon Yi Xin took over free kick duty. With 47 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Neeraj Muthyala. R.ChamWin supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to
Halim Saud who reduced the visitors' lead after 50 minutes to 1 - 4.
Cyril Künzler received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 52 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Halim Saud would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Quek Boon Dong entered the game for R.ChamWin as the match clock showed 60 minutes.
Emil Lipš was handed the R.ChamWin captain's armband. The bench was restless, and with 60 minutes passed R.ChamWin's coach gave
Nemanja Momčilović the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Enrik Timmermans reluctantly left the field.
Bernie Egan was, after 72 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Austen Guan made the save. The referee showed Grilled's
Neeraj Muthyala the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With clinical precision, the cross from winger
Cyril Künzler found its way to
Bilal Mohammad Harun's head, and a screaming header gave Grilled the goal after 78 minutes played. 1 - 6 After 79 minutes, Grilled's
Cyril Künzler burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 7. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Cyril Künzler. 81 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
José Luiz Velho came on for
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). 81 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave
Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field.
Chan Ze Han came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Austen Guan but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Kalki Parvathaneni off the field.
Islom Davlatov took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 7. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
Most important R.ChamWin player was
Emil Lipš. On the other hand,
Austen Guan's play was disheartening.
Bernie Egan performed admirably for Grilled.
José Luiz Velho was a disappointment, however.
