PandaMode 1 - 4 Grilled
The crowd turning up at the stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. Lineup:

The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled will have to work out a different routine for indirect free kicks. Though it looked well-rehearsed, their play after 10 minutes was easily anticipated by the opposition and the attackers simply had nowhere to go. Grilled's
Bernie Egan gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 12 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Given a free kick from a ways out after 13 minutes, Grilled sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but
Neeraj Muthyala was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 0 - 2. The home crowd did not lose faith and cheered their team on as they strove to get back into the game. The fans were rewarded after 14 minutes when
Hikmət Quliyev burst forward, 5-holed the central defender and then mischievously lobbed the ball over the advancing goalie to make the score 1 - 2. Definitely a SportsCenter Top 10 candidate – DA-DA-DA! DA-DA-DA! The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 54 percent possession of the ball.
The game had been going for 59 minutes when
Vikram Mudaliar broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3 for Grilled, much to the home crowd's dismay. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni came on for
Chan Ze Han.
Moey Xin Seng was handed the Grilled captain's armband. The visitors'
Bernie Egan took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 73 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Grilled. The referee showed PandaMode's
Ferenc Sulija the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. PandaMode had a brilliant opportunity to reply as
Kurtis Lee received a high ball from the right and hit it on the bounce.
Massoud Dob's reflexes induced groans from the home crowd, though. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni rushed past his defender and should have scored, but the finish was just wide, taking some paint off the post as it went out. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bhavya Panigrahi gave
Prokop Mottl a quick hug as he left the field. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 55 percent of possession.
PandaMode's best player was
Ferenc Sulija. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Corentin Coupez seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Kalki Parvathaneni. Good thing
Prokop Mottl isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
