118187 spectators had come to
Woodside Park this cloudy day.

Fringeheads's starters:

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Sarcastic Fringeheads has decided to play a 4-4-2 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+4) ability to attack in the middle. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Fringeheads on this day, taking advantage of their extra-terrestrial level with that tactic. Despite hurting his left foot at the 6 minute mark,
Chu Xin Lee decided to keep playing. With 8 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
David Koppensteiner put the ball away for 0 - 1. 26 minutes in, Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) from Fringeheads a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 32 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Chu Xin Lee was in no condition to play on. 33 minutes into the game he left the field on a stretcher, with his right thigh bandaged, and crying out in pain.
Cyril Künzler tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Grilled, but
Neeraj Muthyala's shot went over the bar.
Andrej Apatič finished off the counterattack of Fringeheads from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 2. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
After 56 minutes
Kalki Parvathaneni could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. The counterattacks of Fringeheads were deadly and 57 minutes into the game,
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 0 - 3. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Fringeheads substitution.
Chew Fu Chuan came on for
Álvaro Baptista.
Bernie Egan did everything he could to get one back for his Grilled, but keeper
Radu Pandelescu denied him with a spectacular block. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Fringeheads coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mladen Milostić reluctantly made way for
Zaki Taleb on the pitch.
Ryan Kerr stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Fringeheads the goal to make it 0 - 4. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni got himself booked for a foul.
Zaki Taleb was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 72 minutes. The replacement for the injured player was
Salman Al-Qasem. With 76 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Fringeheads resulted in a counterattack that set
Chew Fu Chuan free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. A lovely run by Grilled's
Cyril Künzler left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bernie Egan off the field.
Heng Dong Chu took his place. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 4 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Vikram Mudaliar.
Bhavya Panigrahi turned in a dismal performance, however.
David Koppensteiner performed admirably for Fringeheads. On the other hand,
Salman Al-Qasem's play was disheartening.
