Xaviers 1 - 4 Grilled
The 62759 fans in attendance at
Big Nest Arena Singapore were roasting in the hot sun.
Josias Barba was the appointed referee with assistance provided by

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) level with that tactic.
Bhavya Panigrahi had a good opportunity to give Grilled the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. 0 - 1 was the score with 27 minutes played, after
Bhavya Panigrahi cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. The referee showed Xaviers's
Ahmed Eboka the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 35 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
Kalki Parvathaneni finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Kalki Parvathaneni dispatched a majestic long shot 37 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres. Grilled increased their lead after 38 minutes when
Chan Ze Han broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. Grilled had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.
Antoni Sauri kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when
Bhavya Panigrahi delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. Xaviers's
Ahmed Eboka cut towards the middle after 62 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 1 - 3. The bench was restless, and with 62 minutes passed Xaviers's coach gave
Broderick Chu the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Hilman Abd Ghani Husain Khairul Akmal reluctantly left the field.
Antoni Sauri got a fingertip on
Chu Xin Lee's shot from the left 63 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. 76 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. With 79 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Vikram Mudaliar. 88 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Cyril Knzler came on for
Kalki Parvathaneni. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Prokop Mottl replace
Moey Xin Seng after 89 minutes. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 1 minute as stoppage time. After 89 minutes
Ahmed Eboka could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
Xaviers's top performer was clearly
Levi Chin. However,
Wong Ah Min made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han.
Bernie Egan turned in a dismal performance, however.
