Grilled 2 - 2 Miners

Dark skies made the crowd of 3283 at The Cooking Pot a little nervous, but the rain held off. Najib Fattouch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vanja Dragaš and Halil Doruk. The following players had been chosen: Serpin - Panigrahi, 入江 (Irie), Tarin - Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee, Parvathaneni, Egan, Davlatov - Muthyala, Mottl.

Lineup: Kłębowski - Teofilov, Ivanov, Georgiev, Penev, Kyosev - Richter, Cambianica, Haans - Kolev, Koszecz.

Grilled Birds fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For FC Trakia 16, the formation of choice was 5-3-2. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Miners on this day, taking advantage of their mythical level with that tactic. Miners were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 4 minutes, George Richter swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. 16 minutes in, Grilled's Jérémy Tarin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Eren Serpin gave Krystian Rykowski a quick hug as he left the field. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 47 minutes played, Islom Davlatov of Grilled made the score 1 - 1. Miners's Evtim Penev was shown a yellow card after 49 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The whole arena was freaked out by the sight of Grilled's Islom Davlatov slamming his head so hard into the post, that he lost consciousness for what felt like minutes. He was stretchered off with great care, already awake and smiling but probably with weeks of rest ahead of him. The player that took his place was Gilbert Webb. Evtim Penev remonstrated furiously with the referee after Miners had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch. The goal to make it 1 - 2 was scored by Nikolay Kolev after 73 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Miners. The referee showed Grilled's 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Neeraj Muthyala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. 洸平 (Kohei) 奥谷 (Okuya) entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. A tussle 89 minutes into the match resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and Jérémy Tarin put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 2 - 2. Grilled's Krystian Rykowski took a knock to the head after 89 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He took a few uneasy steps, but got dizzy and then taken off the field. Gilbert Webb bravely took on the responsibilities of the departed goalkeeper. The match ends 2 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Kalki Parvathaneni. 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) was a disappointment, however. Most important Miners player was Pál Koszecz. On the other hand, Boris Georgiev's play was disheartening.
