Grilled 5 - 4 Keynsham

Clouds darkened the skies at the stadium today. The following players took the field: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Davlatov, Xin Lee, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Dong Chu - Egan, Parvathaneni, Xin Seng.

Starters: Carragher - Haastrup, Carluccio, Aseery - 源善 (Yuanguang), Lenart, Hernes, Batić, van Tuinen - Sava, Byvshev.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Keynsham Town, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+5) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Bernie Egan gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's Neeraj Muthyala finally got himself booked for a foul. The crowd was silenced 7 minutes into the match as the visiting team's Dmitriy Byvshev came in from the left, tying the game up at 1 - 1. 17 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good ball from the right found Gilbert Webb alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Grilled's Bernie Egan tried to break through the middle repeatedly, but the visitors' defenders were just too alert. The Keynsham free kick 23 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - Konrad Lenart seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 1 - 2! It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. After 26 minutes, Islom Davlatov rushed down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the 2 - 2 goal. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

Grilled's Islom Davlatov was a tricksy little hobbit and made poor Bogoljub Batić look like he had lost his precious. Turns out the precious was in the back of the net - 3 - 2! After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Chu Xin Lee off. Chan Ze Han took his place. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun bringing the lead up to 4 - 2. The home team's fans were upset when, after 65 minutes, the visiting Dmitriy Byvshev broke through the central defense and got the ball past the keeper. 4 - 3 was the score. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. Moey Xin Seng was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 68 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. Bernie Egan tried using a burst of speed to get past his defender after 77 minutes, but it takes more than that to get past speedy Kadhim Aseery. Keynsham were close to putting the equalizer away after 78 minutes as the opposing defense lost the ball to Pål Hernes in a scuffle on the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the sideline. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Vikram Mudaliar, though he would have liked to continue. The Grilled captaincy was handed to Chan Ze Han. 81 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Vikram Mudaliar ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 3 for Grilled. The fourth official announced that there would be 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player Dorian Sava scored to make it 5 - 4 after 90 minutes, following a good pass from the right. The match ends 5 - 4. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 58 percent of possession.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Kalki Parvathaneni. Good thing Islom Davlatov isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Keynsham player was Bogoljub Batić. I can't remember Michael Carragher ever having a worse night than he just had.
