The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Bely Legion(sapraudny) went for 3-4-3 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. BLon clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their solid level with that tactic. Grilled used their magical ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. BLon fans held their breath as
Gustav Flückiger scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Grilled's
Jérémy Tarin was shown a yellow card after 9 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The visitors refused to give in and, after 13 minutes,
Moey Xin Seng evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1 A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Grilled the lead 15 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall. BLon's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision!
Pavol Burianek's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled took the lead 20 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Vikram Mudaliar was the scorer. Grilled's
Chu Xin Lee left the field after 26 minutes having twisted his hand in a collision, causing a slight injury.
Bhavya Panigrahi had already been warming up, and came on for
Chu Xin Lee. After 29 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Jérémy Tarin who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3.
Valadar Dudzich of BLon received a yellow card after 30 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 3. Grilled had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
The visitors'
José Luiz Velho took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 47 minutes into the match. 1 - 4 for Grilled. 58 minutes into the game BLon broke through on the left wing and
David Curto managed to reduce the lead to 2 - 4. It took several tries, but BLon managed to break through on the left after 61 minutes, getting the ball to
Ðorđe Mišković who easily reduced the lead to make the score 3 - 4. Grilled increased their lead after 62 minutes when
Moey Xin Seng broke through on the right, upping the score to 3 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay.
José Luiz Velho would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Hoàng Trung Quá entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 70 minutes. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Pompeo Bellamoli gave
Leonard Nguyen a quick hug as he left the field. After 80 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Kalki Parvathaneni a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 3 - 6. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match!
Bernie Egan came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Emin Muhammet Oraltan but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. The match ends 3 - 6. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
Ðorđe Mišković performed admirably for BLon.
David Curto was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Bernie Egan.
Jérémy Tarin on the other hand, had a terrible day.
