SKFC 2 - 6 Grilled
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 54326 that came out to
Suzaku Castle Arena.
Jerry Cantrell was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Axel Schafbrück and
Massimo Panza. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. They fielded:
Beffers -
Zwaan,
Ramoser -
Åsberg,
Gaskarth,
Schenke,
Mencherini,
McCutchen -
Ballarino,
Yuen,
Zheng.
Lineup:
Dob -
Webb,
Panigrahi -
Künzler,
Muthyala,
Ze Han,
Mohammad Harun,
Dong Chu -
Xin Lee,
Egan,
Parvathaneni.
The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni after 20 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
Chu Xin Lee came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Pierre Beffers but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Neeraj Muthyala received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 31 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Bilal Mohammad Harun of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 34 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. An indecisive keeper looked on as a free kick by Grilled's
Cyril Künzler put the visitors up 0 - 4 after 36 minutes. SKFC didn't give in and with 38 minutes played
Giorgio Mencherini was able to make the score 1 - 4 after an attack on the right. Halftime score was 1 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
59 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a SKFC substitution.
Teoh Jin Han came on for
Julian Schenke.
Elvin McCutchen was handed the SKFC captain's armband. After 63 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Heng Dong Chu a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 5. SKFC's
Teoh Jin Han found himself alone on the left side 75 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! SKFC's
Theodore Zheng was shown a yellow card after 75 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Bernie Egan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Moey Xin Seng entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 80 minutes. 80 minutes in, Grilled's
Neeraj Muthyala received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Pierre Beffers got a fingertip on
Gilbert Webb's shot from the left 81 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. 82 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and
Cyril Künzler was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 6 rolling the ball in by the right post.
Chu Xin Lee was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 83 minutes. The player that took his place was
Vikram Mudaliar. After 88 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Gilbert Webb off the field.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. SKFC's
Theodore Zheng got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 6. The home crowd cheered when, after 91 minutes,
Vikram Mudaliar's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The match ends 2 - 6. Grilled had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.
The most dominating SKFC player was without a doubt
Kolten Yuen. On the other hand,
Teoh Jin Han's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Moey Xin Seng.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) turned in a dismal performance, however.
