Grilled 3 - 0 Maltanesi

Weather conditions were pretty good for football today. Lineup: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Künzler, Xin Seng, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Davlatov - Egan, Mudaliar, Xin Lee.

They fielded: Seban - Palata, Julien, Nikula, 坤翔 (Kunxiang) - Gove', Grech, Vella, Lucia, Busuttil - Clifton-Everest.

Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Borussia Maltanesi, chose to start the game with a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) level with that tactic. Massoud Dob looked great 4 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' Simon Grech. Chu Xin Lee gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 Bilal Mohammad Harun should probably have put his team up another goal after 18 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Kévin Seban kept the visitors in the game. After 26 minutes, Maltanesi were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Michael Palata did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Bilal Mohammad Harun squirmed through their central defence after 34 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Bernie Egan gave Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Moey Xin Seng increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Kalki Parvathaneni from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 67 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chan Ze Han came on for Chu Xin Lee. With 86 minutes played, Clayton Clifton-Everest had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle flew harmlessly wide of the goal. Maltanesi's Richie Julien was shown a yellow card after 87 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 88 minutes, following yet another great corner, Gilbert Webb's flick on at the near post reached Neeraj Muthyala, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 0. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Kalki Parvathaneni. Islom Davlatov was a disappointment, however. Maltanesi's best player was Renald Lucia. Aaron Gove' on the other hand, had a terrible day.
