It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-3-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of MCFCSS, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+3) level with that tactic. 0 - 1 was the score with 6 minutes played, after
Moey Xin Seng cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled.
Oh Kum Cheng managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but
Collin Chu was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. It emerged that
Chan Ze Han had hurt his right foot after 18 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. The player that took his place was
Islom Davlatov. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
Moey Xin Seng. After 21 minutes, Grilled's
Bernie Egan burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
Moey Xin Seng increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. The visitors'
Bilal Mohammad Harun took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 29 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Grilled. With 33 minutes played,
Bernie Egan nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 34 minutes into the game,
Tan Wee Shi finished off a MCFCSS left wing counterattack, making the score 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 91 percent of the time.
It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 68 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Islom Davlatov a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 5.
Moey Xin Seng could have put his team up another goal 70 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Heng Dong Chu would have put Grilled up another goal 73 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. After 75 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Chu Xin Lee who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 6. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Zane Trinh from MCFCSS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The Grilled players could smell victory in the air.
Heng Dong Chu wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Prokop Mottl after 80 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 6. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 91 percent of the ball.
Candido Lollato performed admirably for MCFCSS. However,
Oh Kum Cheng made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Moey Xin Seng. On the other hand,
Eren Serpin's play was disheartening.
