Magii 3 - 5 Grilled

Due to an all-day shower, the spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The following players took the field: Aziz - Tomarchio, Uţă, Furtlehner - 國海 (Guohai), O'Farrelly, Londoño, Uglebjerg, Ibrahim - Camilar.

They fielded: Dob - Webb, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Xin Lee, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Dong Chu - Ze Han, Davlatov, Xin Seng.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+4) ability to attack in the middle. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Chu Xin Lee slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Ghobad Aziz, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. 0 - 1 was the score with 13 minutes played, after Neeraj Muthyala cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. After 28 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Magii found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. Bilal Mohammad Harun was, after 34 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Ghobad Aziz made the save. The home crowd was not impressed when Heng Dong Chu came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 37 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 2. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Islom Davlatov from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 57 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Magii was able to get his message across, and raised Magii's organisation to solid. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Bhavya Panigrahi came on for 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). Neeraj Muthyala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Kalki Parvathaneni entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. At 52 minutes into the game, Magii's Adi Camilar deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 2. In a rapid move 53 minutes into the match, Eduardo Ibrahim of Magii lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Adi Camilar who easily hit it home to make it 2 - 2. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! After 55 minutes, Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 2 - 3. 59 minutes into the game, Magii had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to poor. After 64 minutes, Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 4. After 66 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Chu Xin Lee who increased Grilled's lead to 2 - 5. 鄭 (Zheng) 國海 (Guohai)'s speed was clear to see after 75 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released Eduardo Ibrahim who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 3 - 5. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Chan Ze Han was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 78 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 3 - 5. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

Magii's top performer was clearly Asbjørn Uglebjerg. Milaim Tomarchio was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was Moey Xin Seng. On the other hand, Bhavya Panigrahi's play was disheartening.
